Good sleep starts with good craftsmanship

A success created by Limfjordstang

The year is 1899, and Carl Petersen settles in Gedsted, where he establishes himself as a cabinetmaker. One autumn day in 1899, he went for a walk along the fjord and found the large heaps of seaweed that had drifted in, and the idea of producing mattresses with seaweed was born. GJEDSTED TANG OG MADRATSFABRIK was a reality.
In 1937, the seaweed in the Limfjord was struck by disease, and new methods of producing mattresses had to be found. The brand new thing was the spring mattress, which was built using what is known as Epeda spring inserts, which is also found in the cushions of some of the early Danish furniture classics.
Today, GETAMA continues to develop our mattress concept and, not least, the possibilities for true personalised sleeping comfort.
